Preparing for Parenthood

We are having fun preparing for parenthood.  Here are some of the ways we are doing so:

1. Listening to lots of parenting seminars online.  Some of our favs have been from the Children Desiring God National Conferences, and the Bethlehem Baptist Church Parenting Seminars.  We are so grateful to these two ministries for generously sharing their MP3s online for the enrichment of all.

2. Reading lots of parenting books.  A couple that we highly suggest are:
Adopted for Life: The Priority of Adoption for Christian Families & Churches  Shepherding a Child's Heart

3. Making decisions about what material possessions we will be required to accumulate for our baby (and which ones we can do without).  With all our moving, we have learned to "live lite" so to speak.  Now we are learning a little bit about which baby items could help us "live lite" with a baby in tow.  If you're wondering about some of the decisions we have made, we have started a baby registry at Amazon.com.  If you have suggestions or tips on "living lite" with a baby, let us know!

4. Lots of paperwork, of course :)  Paperwork seems endless with an adoption.  Just when we think we can see the top of the mountain, another peak appears.

  1. You guys will be such awesome parents! What love and thoughtfulness you are putting towards the care and raising of your child(ren). It is a blessing to see.

  2. Thank you for the encouragement! The adoption journey can be a long and difficult one, and we are learning to trust the Lord to protect and provide for our child even though we are not able to before the adoption.
