The incumbent candidate President Paul Biya was re-elected today from the vote the 9th of October, according to
Le Monde. The stats:
- 77.9% for Paul Biya (RDPC) with 3,772,527 votes
- 10.71% for John Fru Ndi (SDF) with 578,175 votes
- Of those eligible to vote, 65.82% did so
- Paul Biya is 78 years old and now to enter his 6th term, this one of 7 years
- He has been President for 29 years so far
Today, everyone was listening to the radio or watching TV, as the results were read and published city by city, region by region by an official (I think) from the Supreme Court wearing a white wig. Every restaurant, every business establishment had the news blaring so as to learn the results.
