Election of Cameroon's Senators

Election was held Sunday, April 14th for Cameroon's senate which had been called for by the constitution in 1996.  70 senators will be elected by vote and then 30 will be appointed by President Paul Biya to bring the total to 100 senators. The president of the senate will become the #2 person in power (in the event of the president's sudden death or incapacitation, this person becomes president).

According to reports, the election was largely peaceful (at least in Bamenda).

Results are supposed to be posted within 15 days.
