"The word of Yahweh came to Ezekiel the priest, the son of Buzi, in the land of the Chaldeans by the Chebar Canal, and the hand of Yahweh was upon him there" (Ezekiel 1:3)
During prayer request time one morning during the Ezekiel workshop a few weeks ago, one translator stood up. He told of how great a connection he sensed he shared with Ezekiel. The translator related how he and his family fled the village from attacks, barely escaping with their lives a few years ago. While away from the village unable to return for a couple years, he experienced a sort of exile, he said, and all that goes with it - lack of food, no home, not knowing where family members are, deaths, etc. Like this translator, many of the villages back home also fled, but most of those who didn't make it were killed.
Having returned home to the village just this year, he and his translator colleagues discovered that all the village homes were burned to the ground...like an eery ghost town. Ezekiel experienced similar painful circumstances in his own personal and national history, and yet Yahweh was present with him in exile (see Ezek 1:3), May the Lord mightily use the prophecy of Ezekiel to encourage, strengthen and equip the saints in Nigeria, as He already began doing among the participants at the Old Testament workshop.
