In Memory of Dr. George Cowan

A dear colleague of ours, Dr. George Cowan, former Bible translator and president emeritus of Wycliffe Bible Translators International, went to be with the Lord on Saturday, Feb. 11, 2017, at the age of 100.

We had the pleasure of meeting George a number of years ago, and our time with him has left an indelible impression on us. It was a joy to get to know such a vital link to the founders of Wycliffe; the Lord used him to help fuel our passion for minority language groups to access the Word of God.

Wycliffe wrote a helpful article entitled "In Memory of Dr. George Cowan" here.

Among many things to mention, one interesting discovery he made was the Maxeteco people's whistling speech (Mexico).

May the Lord raise up many more George Cowans: linguist, Bible translator, mission leader, prayer warrior.
