I have long balked at using the terminology 'incarnational ministry' so commonly used to label the sort of work we do, since the Gospels treat Jesus' incarnation as unique (e.g. John 1:1-18) rather than a model to follow. Today I read two short articles in agreement with this conclusion, one by Dr. Andreas Kostenberger and the other by Dr. Eckhard Schnabel.
Schnabel prefers 'contexualization' or 'inculturation,' while Köstenberger says the best term, based only on John's Gospel, is “'representational.'
